Let's Meet Outside… with Cathrine
Korsgaard Yde
Photographer Cathrine Korsgaard Yde captures nature and sports athletes through her lens, fully embracing windblown landscapes with every fiber of her being. When she’s not at home by the North Sea in Klitmøller in Denmark, where she lives with her husband Morten and their dog Valder, they travel around in their camper.
Rudolph Care dove into her life, asking her about the ever-giving nature, the sense of freedom, and the importance of caring for your skin when you spend most of your life outdoors.
Where are you in your life right now?
I live a wonderful life with great freedom and an unpredictable daily rhythm. The weather often dictates my days, and I feel incredibly privileged to let nature set my pace. Nature is my sanctuary. It gives me both peace and energy. It’s where I can be active and find focus and creative inspiration. It’s also the foundation for strong communities and meaningful relationships.
What kind of nature do you love the most?
The ocean. The North Sea is my backyard, and I love being close to its ever-changing light and expressions. To me, the sea is a giant playground—both as a photographer and as a surfer.
How do you incorporate nature into your everyday life?
I prefer to be outside. I always look forward to spring when I can spend countless hours in my garden—I can hardly wait to start working in it. Nature makes me happy. My mood and overall well-being improve when I’m outdoors. Surfing, for me, is all about having fun and pushing limits.
How does spending so much time outside affect your skin?
I can feel how the cold and wind dry out my skin in winter, and in summer, the sun is a real challenge. I’ve traveled to warm places during winter and, unfortunately, haven’t always taken proper care of my skin, leading to sun damage. Four years ago, I was treated for melanoma, and I regret not being more mindful of sun protection earlier. Today, sunscreen is an essential part of my daily routine.
How do you take care of your skin?
Lots of hydration and sun protection. I drink plenty of water, use moisturizing creams, and wear sunscreen year-round.
What does your morning and evening routine look like?
I cleanse my face morning and evening and apply moisturizer. Before heading outside, I always apply Sun Balm SPF 50.
How do you protect your skin when spending time outdoors?
I always use high-factor sunscreen, a wind-protective cream, and SPF lip balm to shield my skin from the cold and the sun.
What are your favorite Rudolph Care products?
Sun Balm SPF 50 follows me everywhere.
